CAMP WILLIAMS — Crews from two counties and military personnel contained a brush fire on the southern edge of Camp Williams Friday evening.

The fire started at about 1:30 p.m. Friday and was contained about 6 p.m., said Lt. Col. Hank McIntire, spokesman for the Utah National Guard. The cause of the fire was still under investigation. The blaze consumed more than 50 acres, McIntire said.

Fire crews from Camp Williams, Utah County, Saratoga Springs, Eagle Mountain and Bluffdale were called in to put out the blaze. U.S. Forest Service firefighters also pitched in.

A Black Hawk helicopter from Camp Williams and well as a Forest Service helicopter dumped buckets of water on the fire, McIntire said.
