SALT LAKE CITY — A Tremonton man received a maximum sentence in federal court for possession of child pornography.

U.S. District Judge Dee Benson sentenced John Metcalf to 10 years in federal prison. Metcalf, 34, is currently incarcerated in the Utah State Prison for two convictions of forcible sexual abuse. His federal sentence will begin after his state sentence ends.

In a plea agreement, he admitted that in September 2007 he possessed at least 10 images of child pornography on his computer hard drives and that the images had been transferred across state lines on the Internet. The images were found on electronic media at his workplace after he was no longer employed.

Metcalf was prosecuted as a part of the Utah Project Safe Childhood initiative.
