Robert Mohr, MD

Robert Carl Mohr, MD, 81, died on July 20, 2010 in Provo, Utah. He was born June 5, 1929 in
Logan, to Carl Valentine and Nona Marie Worley Mohr.
He attended Logan schools graduating from Logan High School in 1947. In high school he was active in athletics and student organizations. He was a member of the ROTC rifle team earning medals for his marksmanship. He served as senior class president, captain of the debate team and played tackle and fullback positions on the football team. Bob then attended USU on an athletic and academic scholarship where he earned a Bachelors Degree in entomology. While at USU he was on the football team and in1948 he won the state championship for heavyweight wrestling. He was a member of the Phi Sigma Biological Society and the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He earned a Masters Degree in medical entomology and a medical degree from the University of Utah. Bob was honored to attend the U of U Medical School 50 year reunion in September 2009.
Bob served in the United States Air Force and was honorably released in 1962 as a 1st Lieutenant.A true republican, Bob loved his country.
The Mohr Psychiatric Clinic in Salt Lake was established by him in 1962 and Benchmark Regional Hospital
located in Bountiful in 1984. He served as president of the Utah Psychiatric Association from 1976-77 and was appointed by Governor Rampton to be a member of the Utah State Hospital Advisory council in 1966. He practiced psychiatry for over 30 years until his retirement in 1992.
Bob married Evelyn Winn in 1949, later divorced. In 1969 he married Michaela Siemes, MD, later
divorced. Married Julia Magleby Peterson in 1995. He is survived by his wife Julia of Provo and uncle, Rex Worley of Logan; Bob's five children, and Julia's six children, in addition to 23 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Children include Robert Brad Mohr, Utah; Alan Jeffrey (Ann) Mohr, PhD, Utah; Richard Nielsen (Elizabeth) Mohr, MS, Arizona; Robert Alexander (Alison, Esquire) Mohr, MD, Connecticut; Nicole (Derk) Hopkins-Mohr, Utah; Elisa Ann (Les) Patterson, Utah; Marianne (Lorne, Esquire) Knutson, Minnesota; Suzanne (Lance) Olson, Utah; George (Rachel) Peterson, PE, Utah; Lars Eric (Ann, MD) Peterson, MD, South Carolina; and Laura (Chris) Schear, Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Geri Alsop and RaNae Young; grandson, Eugene Gray Peterson.
At his request his remains have been cremated. A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 2, 2010 at 3:00 pm in the Edgemont 11th Ward Chapel, 3050 Mojave Lane, Provo. Graveside services will be held Saturday, August 7, 2010 at 4:00 pm in the Monroe Utah Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
