Sen. Orrin Hatch should be commended for introducing a resolution calling for a balanced budget amendment. Let's just hope it passes this time. It's a necessary step to begin repairing the damage caused by 30 years of out-of-control spending by the United States government. It's too late for Congress to not make the fatal mistake of overspending, but it's not too late for them to make amends and do something about it. If this amendment isn't passed and Congress doesn't come up with any other feasible remedy for the current economic situation, our financial system will collapse, causing an economic depression worse than the Great Depression.
