L. Don Searle
1934 ~ 2010
Lewis Don Searle passed away due to natural causes Monday, June 28, 2010, returning home to his Heavenly Father to be reunited with his eternal companion. He was born June 2, 1934 in Salt Lake City, Utah to loving parents, Lewis Franklin and Ruth Hill Searle. He married Ellen Jean Winegar, April 3, 1959, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Mark E. Peterson, member of the Council of the Twelve Apostles, officiated.
Don and his wife Ellen served very successfully as their Stake magazine drive leaders. He was also called as one of the Seven Presidents of Seventy in his Stake Seventy's Quorum.
He had a gift for playing the organ by ear and could play almost any song and especially hymns, excellently. He always attributed this gift to his Heavenly Father.
Don was a loving and devoted husband to his wife Ellen, always taking exceptional care of her especially after she developed a debilitating illness which resulted in her passing in 2006.
He was also a kind, loving son to his parents and especially his mother, Ruth, visiting her almost every day at the care center she resided in the last few years of her life. Don loved all those that he met and enjoyed socializing with his friends. Always kind and generous, he was loved by all who know him.
Don is survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, and cousins. Don was preceded in death by his wife, father, mother and infant daughter Debera Jean.
Funeral services will be held 12 noon, Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple, where a viewing will be held one hour prior to the services. Interment to follow in the Salt Lake City Cemetery. We all love Don and will miss him greatly.
