If you miss hearing Tom Barberi on the radio, you now have a new option to not only hear him, but see him, too.
A new Utah journalist Web site, www.salttvnet.com has features a host of veteran broadcasters, including Barberi in his new show "Return to Reason."
The website also features the talents of Jill Atwood, who used to be on KSFI, as well as KSL-TV, and Jim Fuchuck, who used to be on KFNZ and KZNS.
The rest of the site is composed of other well-known (but retired or now not-on-the-air) broadcasters, such as Terry and Susan Wood, Dick Nourse, Ruth Todd, Craig Worth, Reese Stein and others.
"Utah journalists you know and trust" is the website's slogan.
Barberi's contributions are short, with the latest one being just 72 seconds long.
Not only can you watch new works of journalism on this site, but you can also register and post comments about what you think.
OUT OF CONTEXT — My editors received some phone calls last week about Mills Crenshaw, KTKK talk show host, supposedly saying some outrageous things about President Barack Obama and the Pan Am bombing. It turns out these listeners had only apparently heard the latter part of Crenshaw's comments and thus had things completely out of context. This clearly illustrates how you just can't jump in midstream during some talk radio discussions.
RADIO HAPPENINGS — Kerry, Bill and Gina from "Radio From Hell" morning show on KXRK ("X-96") know how to spoof people and things. However, a listener recently spoofed them by transposing their faces into some "Mad Men" TV footage. Kerry particularly seemed to work as character Roger Sterling in the show. To see the spoof, find the link at www.x96.com/BILL-S-BLOG/7806993
— Not to be outdone, "Johnson and Johnson," mornings on KUBL (FM-93.3), also have a video on their website worth watching. On July 30, Joe Johnson went through a car wash while sitting in the back of an open truck. It's a hoot, and at just 21/2 minutes long, it provides that rare visual aspect to a radio personality.
