When I open each morning's Deseret News, I immediately turn to the editorial and comment pages. I always find pertinent articles that are on the mark.

I read Dr. Joseph Cramer's comments, "Americans' attitude of entitlement very un-American" (July 29). Is this because we have so many un-Americans among us? Or is it because we don't demand examples of patriotism from our citizens? How many of us can sing by memory all verses of "The Star-Spangled Banner" or recite the Pledge of Allegiance with sincerity or name the first president of the United States or recite the inscription on the Statue of Liberty?

Is the root of today's problems being more concerned with what we can get rather than what we can give?
