SALT LAKE CITY– Deseret Book has announced the new biography of LDS Church President Thomas S. Monson.
President and CEO Sheri Dew unveiled the cover of "To the Rescue: The Biography of Thomas S. Monson" to booksellers at the annual LDS Booksellers Association conference at the South Towne Exposition Center on Thursday, Aug. 5, 2010.
"For more than 140 years, Deseret Book has published many extraordinary books, but few things rise to the level of the biography of a prophet, particularly a living prophet," Sheri Dew, president and CEO of Deseret Book, said in a press release.
"We are honored to publish this biography at this time, the story of a remarkable man, and the leader of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints."
The 608-page book, written by Heidi S. Swinton, includes dozens of photos spanning President Monson's lifetime of service and goes on sale Sept. 27.
Swinton is an award-winning author and screenwriter whose works include PBS documentaries "American Prophet," "Sacred Stone," "Sweetwater Rescue," "Trail of Hope" and "America's Choir." She graduated from the University of Utah and attended Northwestern University's Graduate School of Journalism.
