Cute aprons are great accessories. I love the idea of having an apron-embellishing party where everyone brings an apron that needs an extra something. Make sure to have lots of fabric scraps, washable ribbon, buttons and other fun accessories on hand.

The more choices the better, so have friends bring along supplies as well.

Spread everything out on a big table, and have one or two sewing machines ready to go. This is a simple, creative party where everyone will leave with a beautifully embellished custom apron.

Gather:

Plain apron

Scissors

Fabric scraps

Fabri-Tac glue

Needle and thread

Buttons and embellishments

Sizzix Machine with dies (optional)

Create:

1. Lay the apron down and imagine how you would like it to look overall.

2. Use scissors or die-cut fabric into shapes (like flowers) using a Sizzix machine. Work to arrange on your apron until you've got it just right.

3. Glue down your die-cut shapes with Fabri-Tac so they stay put.

4. Using a needle and thread or a sewing machine, sew down the edges of your shapes to make sure they're secure.

5. Sew on buttons, pompoms, ric-rac or any other embellishments to make your perfect apron.

Having a Sizzix machine makes creating your own special apron a quick and easy project. For my apron, I used the Sizzix Bigz Die — Flowers and Leaf 655829. To learn more about the Sizzix die-cutting machine, visit www.sizzix.com.
