LEHI — Main Street in Lehi is going to be closed for a week of construction work on a commuter rail crossing.

The Utah Transit Authority says the closure between 300 West and the 500 West roundabout is scheduled from 5 a.m. Monday to 5 a.m. Oct. 4.

UTA Project Manager Steve Myer says the closure is necessary for UTA and Union Pacific crews to work on the FrontRunner line to Provo.

Plans call for upgrading the crossing to meet safety standards allowing trains to no longer have to sound horns in the area.

The new FrontRunner line will run 45 miles from downtown Provo to Salt Lake City, with stations in Murray, South Jordan, Lehi, American Fork, Orem and Provo.
