SALT LAKE CITY — Target is opening 10 new stores in 10 cities on Oct. 10, and one of those is a new Salt Lake retail outlet at 1110 S. 300 West.

The 139,000-square-foot store will employ 200 people and will offer fresh food, shoes, electronics, home products and beauty care items. The store also will feature a Starbucks store, Target Cafe, Target Pharmacy and Pizza Hut Express.

The stores opening Oct. 10 will all contain grocery areas and will provide customers with such things as fresh produce, meat and baked goods, according to Raslyn Wooten, senior specialist communications for Target.

The 10 stores combined also will create 2,400 new jobs, according to Wooten.

"These new Target store openings will help support local economies and make life easier for our guests by creating new jobs, spurring development and providing the utmost in convenience and value," said John Griffith, executive vice president of property development.

"We are looking forward to deepening our relationship with guests in communities across the country," Griffith said.

As part of its official grand opening, the Salt Lake store, as well as the others, will contribute funds to the United Way, food to Feeding America, and products to the local Goodwill chapter. The stores also plan to encourage employees to do volunteer work in their respective communities.
