Salt Lake radio is an ever-changing landscape. But it's worthwhile to take a look back, just to see how much things have changed.

Here's a look back at the Salt Lake radio market.

TEN YEARS AGO IN SALT LAKE — KBYU radio prepares to celebrate its 40th anniversary. … Richard Cano is let go from the KIQN morning show and is replaced by Joe Jackson, while Rick Shane and Dawn Kennedy, remain …KLO switches to an all-national talk show format.

The "Radio From Hell" show on KXRK overtakes "Chunga and Mister" on KENZ as the top morning show for young adult listeners. KSFI and KXRK lead the station ratings game … Some stations trim staff and "Gentleman Jim," Greg Smith and Larry Crandall, lose their jobs.

Cory Draper, Mickey Foxx and "Mr. Clean," of "The Blaze," combine to have the bluest local radio show … Ceci Williams is let go from KSFI … Rob Riesen begins the midday DJ and program director at KBZN.

TWENTY YEARS AGO IN SALT LAKE RADIO — KKDS, AM-1010, a new local radio station for kids, premieres with "Jazzy Jana" (Carlson) being the main personality … Jay Kelly and Rami Sanders are the new "Breakfast Bunch" hosts on KCPX, FM-98.7 … KLVV switches to a hit radio format.

A "Donald Trump" (but not the real famous businessman), begins a new morning radio show on KLVV (Q-99.5") … An unprecedented 7 Wasatch Front radio stations alter their formats … Mills Crenshaw returns to radio, this time on KTKK.

"Jon and Dan" on KLZX continue as Utah's longest running morning show, with 10 years together … KJQN adds a fourth frequency along the Wasatch Front … KSL, back when it still played music, planned a lot of special holiday music for Christmas Eve … KALL lays off three employees.

CURRENT RADIO HAPPENINGS — Ogden radio station KOGN (AM-1490), now looks to be a new Spanish formatted station. KOGN was most recently silent. By my count, this is at least the sixth Spanish radio station in the Salt Lake market.

— KBYU (FM-89.1) will be at Abravanel Hall for the Utah Symphony's first program of the new season, Sept. 10-11. Those attending the concert are invited to visit with Classical 89 staff in the lobby before or after the concert, or during intermission.

KBYU is celebrating its 50th anniversary of FM broadcasting this year.
