Lila Mitchell Ogilvie passed away peacefully on January 24th, 2011, in Salt Lake City, Utah at the age of 94. She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on January 3rd, 1917, the sixth child of Vernon Claude and Eudora (Allgood) Mitchell's nine children. She graduated from West High in 1934 and married her sweetheart Kendal Morris Ogilvie, on November 4th, 1939. The picture of Lila with this obituary was taken in 1939, about the time of their marriage. Kendal carried this picture with him in his officer footlocker throughout his wartime experience. Lila was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She dedicated her life to serving family and friends. She was an avid reader and an advocate of higher education. She leaves a tremendous hole in our lives and will be greatly missed. Preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Vernon, Leonard, Howard, Kenneth and Jed, and sister Louisa Sharp. She is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, Kendal, children Kendal Jr. (Sandra), Howard (Sally), William (Susan), and Dori (Bill) Dublinski, 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, sisters Eudora (Russel) Johnson and Elda Potter. The Ogilvie family wishes to thank Lisa, Kirk, Kristen and Darren of Applegate Home Care who took such good care of Mom. Funeral Services will be held at Larkin Mortuary, 1950 E. 10600 So., Sandy, UT on Tuesday, February 1st at 2:00 p.m. with a viewing prior to the services at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please honor Lila by contributing to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
