I believe I can answer Loren Minert's "Question for Matheson" (Readers' Forum, Jan. 23). His votes were politically convenient. I seem to remember he was pretty quiet about how he would vote on health care until it was "safe" to announce he would vote against it. He waited until Nancy Pelosi had the necessary votes to pass. This makes me wonder how he would have voted if his vote was needed to pass the bill?
He has now voted against the repeal. Could this vote be due to higher political aspirations and to gain support of the Democratic National Committee?
I get so tired of hearing and seeing our elected officials' actions based on the next election rather than doing the right thing. I hope the new House members will listen and act on the "will of the people" rather than anticipation of the next election.
