Richard Holtry 1945 ~ 2010
Richard Holtry of Longmont died at his residence on December 31, 2010. He was 65. Richard Keith was born on May 12, 1945 in Billings, Montana to Raymond and Frances (Morgan) Holtry. Richard earned a Bachelor's Degree in History from BYU, his Master's Degree in Political Science from USC and then his MBA degree from SMU. He served in the United States Army and saw two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was awarded the Purple Heart, six bronze stars and a silver star for his service in the Army. Richard was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was a faithful member. His service to the church was an important part of his life. Richard enjoyed little league sports and was a baseball coach for over ten years. He loved to travel and was able to visit many destinations both foreign and domestic. Richard married Eileen Mullen in Dallas, Texas in February 1984. The couple would later divorce. Richard was retired after a successful career in the high tech industry as a human resources consultant. Mr. Holtry was preceded in death by a son, Christopher in 2001, his parents, and two sisters: Deanna Ray and Lois Jean. Richard is survived by daughter Morgan Holtry of Longmont, son Mike Holtry of Longmont, granddaughter Anna Holtry and his former wife also of Longmont. He is further survived by two brothers: Don Holtry of Salt Lake City, Utah and Frank Holtry of Oro Valley, Arizona and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 6 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Howe Mortuary in Longmont. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 7 at the Longs Peaks Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Lyons, Colorado with burial to follow at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery.
