SALT LAKE CITY — A third teenager involved in a Spanish Fork train accident over the weekend has died.

Savannah "Savvy" Webster, 13, was taken Saturday to Primary Children's Medical Center, where she remained in extremely critical condition until she died as a result of her injuries Tuesday evening.

Savannah was with her sister, Kelsea, and friend Essa Ricker taking pictures on the train tracks just off U.S. 6 in Spanish Fork Canyon near the small community of Covered Bridge on Saturday.

The three girls were hit by at least one train, and Kelsea and Essa, both 15, died at the scene. Police say it's possible the noise from one train was so loud that the girls didn't realize another one was approaching from behind them.

Savannah and Kelsea's mother, Jayna Webster, said in a statement that doctors told the Webster family Savannah's brain injuries were too extensive to recover from.

"Even though the doctors have done everything possible, Savannah will not be able to recover. It is time to say goodbye, for now, to an angel that walked among us," Webster said.

The family has taken comfort in the the community's support, particularly the effort by the girls' respective classmates at Diamond Fork Junior High and Maple Mountain High who wore dress clothes to school Monday in the girls' honor.

"The amount of love that has been sent our way has been overwhelming," Webster said. "Our hearts are full as others’ love has reached across the miles and touched our family. We know that our girls will find a special place in God's arms and that his purpose and plan will continue. … It has been said that friends are angels who lift us to our feet when our wings forget to fly, and you all have been nothing but the best of friends to us."

Savannah's organs will be donated, according to the statement.

Webster invited the community to honor the girls' lives at a memorial for Kelsea and Savannah on Saturday, the details of which will come out later this week. Essa's funeral is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at the Spanish Fork Canyon View Stake Center, 989 S. 2550 East, according to a Facebook announcement.
