INDIANAPOLIS — Colts coach Jim Caldwell offered no excuses for his team's 62-7 loss to the New Orleans Saints on Sunday night.

Caldwell said Monday that he told his team it got whipped. He apologized to his players for not preparing as well as he should have. He didn't question their effort, but said execution was poor.

The winless Colts allowed the highest point total in franchise history, and it was the team's second-worst loss. Only a 57-point loss to the Chicago Bears in 1962 was larger. It came after the Colts lost their previous five games by a combined 32 points.

Caldwell said he's going back to square one and evaluating every aspect of how the team operates. He said personnel changes are possible, but he wouldn't make any kneejerk decisions.
