Redbox, the DVD vending machine company, is raising movie rental prices by 20 percent because of higher costs.

Rental prices for DVD will rise to $1.20 from $1 on Oct. 31, the company said in an email to customers.

The price increase follows higher debit card fees, Redbox said. Rental prices for Blu-ray discs and video games won't change. From Oct. 31 to Nov. 30, Redbox will offer the first rental day at $1, with each subsequent day at $1.20.
