Adobe Systems Inc., the digital publishing software maker, said it will cut 750 positions. The company declined to say if its Omniture business unit in Utah will be affected.

Adobe will eliminate about 750 full-time positions in North America and Europe, the company said in a statement. Adobe purchased Orem, Utah-based Omniture in 2009 for about $1.8 billion. Omniture makes software to track website visitors.

"In order to better align resources around Digital Media and Digital Marketing, Adobe is restructuring its business," San Jose, California-base Adobe said in a statement. The company said it will take a pre-tax charge of $87 million to $94 million in to restructure.

"We aren’t providing site-specific information except where required by law," said Jodi Sorensen, Adobe's director of corporate public relations, in an e-mail to the Deseret News. "The reductions span our business units and geographies, and they reflect our shifts in investment toward the high-growth Digital Media and Digital Marketing categories as a result of priority changes and reduction in some projects. We are not breaking out workforce impact by business unit or product line."

Brad Rencher, Adobe's senior vice president and general manager of the Omniture business unit, did not immediately return an e-mail seeking comment.
