PHOENIX — Jurors who decided the fate of convicted serial killer Mark Goudeau (goo-DOH') would wake up with nightmares, struggled with the weight of keeping the case to themselves and bonded with each other during the emotional six-month trial.

The jurors spoke Wednesday of the behind-the-scenes emotional toll that Phoenix's Baseline Killer trial took on them. They spoke several hours after sentencing the 47-year-old Goudeau to death.

Goudeau's victims — eight of them women — ranged from a beautiful 19-year-old girl who dreamed of being a lawyer to a 39-year-old mother of three and preschool teacher on her way to a Christmas party.

The jurors say the hardest part was not being able to talk about the trial with their loved ones.
