ST. GEORGE — A man fleeing from Arizona police was eventually corralled by the Utah Highway Patrol on northbound I-15.

Albert Herrera, 29, was fleeing police for a speed violation when he crossed the Arizona Utah border in a Dodge pickup at about 4:30 p.m., said UHP Cpl. Todd Johnson.

UHP troopers set up road spikes near milespost 5.5. When the Dodge hit the spikes, it immediately went off the left shoulder and hit a concrete barrier. It continued along the barrier a short distance and stopped high centered on the barrier.

Herrera attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended by UHP and St. George police, Johnson said. He had minor injuries and was taken to an area hospital to be checked out before being booked into a Utah jail.

Documents show Herrera has residences in both Spanish Fork and Pleasant Grove Utah, Johnson said.
