Lowell Hobert Engle "On the Road Again"
Our loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend passed away April 5, 2011 due to natural causes.He was born February 16, 1935 in Preston, Minnesota to Roger and Alyce Peterson Engle. He married Sally Sandvik in 1953; later divorced. He married Kay Barnes December 19, 1959, a union that lasted 51 years. Lowell grew up on a farm in southern Minnesota, and, after serving in the US Army from 1953-55, he resided in Minneapolis, Minnesota until 1970 when he transferred to Salt Lake City, Utah with his employer, Consolidated Freightways. He worked for CF for 27 years where he met many life long friends who became his camping and hunting buddies. After he retired in 1997, he set up a winter residence in Yuma, Arizona where he and Kay made many new friends including many Canadians. Survived by his wife, Kay; sons: Terry and Doug (MaryJo); daughters: DebRae Sandvik, Becky (Garth) Stowe, and Susan (Bob) VanZeben; 15 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sister, Gloria (Al) Okeson; brothers: Dave (LaVonne), Paul (Peggy) and John (Kelley); and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Shelly (Adam) Willden; sisters: Barbara Swart and Karen Klomp; and brother, Dick Engle. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 8, 2011, 11:00 a.m. at St. Matthews Lutheran Church, 2654 Builders Dr. (5200 So.) Interment, Valley View Memorial Park.
