Emma Sarah May Thalmann 1918 ~ 2011

Our beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend passed away peacefully on May 10, 2011. Emma (Nonnie) was 92 years young. She was born on June 29, 1918. In Salt Lake City, Utah to Lyman May and Emma Bonsor May where she spent a wonderful life. She married John Fredrick Thalmann on September 6, 1940. Emma had a satisfying career for over twenty years as a nurse at the Cottonwood Hospital in the Woman's Center. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and an avid animal lover. Emma was not intimidated by anyone or anything; "she was feisty". One of her greatest passions was Saturday morning garage sales. She loved to negotiate a bargain. She painted her house, did home repairs and gardened well into her eighties. She will be greatly missed as the matriarch of our family. She is preceded in death by her husband, John Thalmann, mother Emma Bonsor May, father Layman May, sister Annie Rosenlund. Emma is survived by her sister and best friend Enda May Saunders, brother-in-law Paul Saunders, Her children: Janette Milano (John Milano), Joan Thalmann, Marie McCullom (Tom McCullom), and Fred Thalmann (Kim Thalmann). She has seven beautiful grandchildren Tiffanie Anderson (Shane Anderson), Heather Saiki (Tino Saiki), Sean McCullom, Janelle Milano, Justin Milano, Hillary Thalmann, and Hannah Thalmann. Emma was blessed with six great-grandchildren, which she loved with all her heart: Ashton Anderson, Roman Saiki, Brady Anderson, Easton Anderson, Quinton Saiki, and Valen Saiki. Her viewing will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 on Friday, May 13, 2011, followed by a grave-side service at Memorial Estates on 3115 East 7800 South, Cottonwood Heights.
