COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — BYU senior Leif Arrhenius has been selected as the 2011 Mountain West Men's Outdoor Track & Field Student-Athlete of the Year.

Arrhenius came close to capturing the men's discus and shot put titles at the 2011 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Des Moines, Iowa, last week. In the discus throw, Arrhenius finished in second place and was recognized as a first-team All-American after recording a mark of 201'-3.00" (61.36m) in the event. He also garnered first-team All-America accolades in the shot put, earning runner-up honors with a throw of 63'-6.75" (19.37m).

TCU senior Jessica Young was the MWC's Women's Outdoor Track & Field Student-Athlete of the Year.
