SHIPPENVILLE, Pa. — The late Army Pfc. Ross McGinnis' act of heroism while serving in Iraq still resonates in his native Pennsylvania and beyond.

The 19-year-old soldier from Knox threw himself atop a grenade tossed into a Humvee in December 2006, shielding four other servicemen from the brunt of the blast. He was posthumously awarded a Medal of Honor in 2008.

Nearly five years after his death, condolence letters and invitations to memorials and veteran ceremonies have slowed to his parents, Tom and Romayne, yet still trickle into their home. The latest one is from Little League Baseball, which plans to induct McGinnis into its Hall of Excellence in South Williamsport at the World Series next month.
