Maria (Mary) Magdalena Ortega Hernandez Loosleborn May 10th, 1929 in Los Angeles, California passed away July 9, 2011, at the family home in Highland.Maria served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Spanish-American Mission. Maria met Lyle J Loosle while they were both serving in the same LDS mission. They courted while Lyle was in the US Army at Fort Bliss, Texas, and were married in the Mesa Arizona Temple, October 21, 1952. Lyle's work in education took them to Utah, Idaho, Arizona, California, Texas and then to Western Samoa, Chile, Venezuela, and Guatemala. Together, they served two missions; one in Mexico City and one in the Lima, Peru temple. They also served a Stake mission together. Maria served in numerous callings in the Church including: Ward Relief Society president, Mission Primary president, and Mission Relief Society Counselor. She is survived by her husband and six children: Richard, Washington D.C.; Robert (Lisa), Mexico City, Mexico; Ronald, Houston, Texas; JoAnn Bessey, St. George; Ramon (Roxanne), Orem; and Patricia Hartzell (Wayne), Orem; twenty grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers, Henry Hernandez, Gilbert Ortega and Manuel Ortega, and one sister, Yolanda Almeida. She is preceded in death by her parents, Enrique Ortega and Caridad Hernandez, her brother, Elihu Hernandez, and one grandson, Adam Bessey. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 12th, at 11:00 a.m. in the Highland 22nd Ward chapel, 9600 North 6000 West, Highland, Utah. The viewing will be held from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m., prior to the services. Funeral services under the direction of Olpin Family Mortuary, Pleasant Grove.
