Gary Dillard Thompson, born August 16, 1939 to Laurel Potts and Dillard Simpson Thompson, in Ogden, Utah; passed away July 10 in Highland UT. He grew up in Clearfield, graduating from Davis High. He served in the New England Mission from 1959-1961. He earned his degree in Mechanical Engineering and married Kerry Jean Mackey in the Logan temple in June 1965. They moved to Endicott, NY where he worked for IBM, then moved to Livermore, CA; where he worked for Lawrence Livermore Lab. In 1974 they moved to Santa Rosa where they lived until 2002 when they moved to Highland. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, William Earl, son, David Alan, and grandson, Jeffrey. He is survived by his wife, daughters, Jill Shumway (David), Highland and Laurel Olson (Christian), Gilbert, AZ, sons, Bret Gary (Lisa), Woods Cross, and Daniel Michael (Natalie), Riverton and 13 grandchildren, Nicole, Courtney, Dallen, Marissa, Derek Shumway; Emily, Nathan, Ashlee, Kimberly Thompson; Sadie, David, Evelyn Olson. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 15 at 11:00 a.m. at the Canterbury chapel in Highland, corner of 10400 N and 6750 W. A viewing will be held that same morning from 9:00-10:45.
