Lucile McAllister Weenig 1918 ~ 2011

Our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend,Lucile McAllister Weenig, completed her journey here on earth on July 1, 2011 Born to John Wells McAllister and Mary Myrl Alder on May 25, 1918 in Manti, Utah. She married her college sweetheart, John Lehi Weenig, on April 24, 1944 in the Salt Lake Temple. She graduated from Santa Barbara High School in 1936 and attended BYU. She served a full time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to the Western States in 1940. She was a member of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir in 1943. She was a 4-H Leader, member of Yeshara, Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, and the Lady Lions Club. Together with her husband, "Big John", guided tours all over the world through Christopherson Travel Agency which they established in 1956. They were avid BYU Cougar supporters and seldom missed BYU football or basketball games. As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served in many positions in Primary, Young Women, Relief Society and Scouting. Together with her husband, they served four LDS missions: guides on Temple Square, as leadership missionaries in the Liberty Stake, proselyting missionaries in the Eugene Oregon Mission and as guides at Welfare Square. Lucile is survived by: Diane (Gary) Thompson, Australia Adelaide Mission; Kay (Rodney) Jex, Centerville, Utah; J. Robert (Betty) Weenig, Houston, Texas; David (Cynthia) Weenig, West Jordan, Utah; Patricia Ann (Roger) Holm, Sandy, Utah. She is survived by a sister, Elaine (Grant) Moody, Provo,Utah and a brother, Dale (Laura) McAllister, Wallsburg ,Utah and by sisters-in-law Anne Weenig, Helen McAllister & Faye McAllister, and by an aunt, Lorna Alder. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and two brothers, Earl McAllister and Wells McAllister. Mom looked at the world through rose colored glasses. She will be missed for her positive attitude, friendliness and kindness. Special thanks to Sunrise Assisted Living of Sandy for their devoted and loving care of our dear mother. Funeral services will be held on Friday July 8, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Highland Park Ward located at 2523 South Douglas St., Salt Lake City, Utah. Friends may call at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive, on Thursday, July 7, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. and at the church one hour prior to the services.
