CARTHAGE, N.C. — A man accused of killing eight people two years ago at a nursing home in North Carolina is set to go on trial Monday.
Prosecutors say 47-year-old Robert Stewart's target in March 2009 was Wanda Luck, his estranged wife. The nurse's assistant survived by hiding in a bathroom at the Pinelake Health and Rehabilitation Center in Carthage.
Stewart was wounded by a police officer and arrested soon after. He faces eight counts of first-degree murder, and prosecutors plan to seek the death penalty if he's convicted.

Luck's mother, Margaret Neal, says her daughter is keeping busy to try and forget the day it all happened. The relatives of victims reached by The Associated Press say they are still grieving and preferred not to talk.
