Straight from the pages of a favorite children’s story, the characters of Veggie Tales reveal a new family-friendly DVD. This latest film, set to release on Aug. 13, aims to remind children that, “God made you special, and he loves you very much.”
“Princess and the Popstar” is essentially the story of “The Prince and the Pauper” with sing-along songs and a modern-day twist.
When Princess Poppyseed meets her favorite pop singer, Vanna Banana, at the local park, the two discover they look almost exactly alike. They decide to switch places, each taking on the other’s life. However, things get complicated and each girl begins to see the worth of the life she left behind. With the help of their friends, they learn that each life is precious and each person is of value.
After the video success of “Sweetpea Beauty” last year, Big Idea Entertainment, a leading studio and producer of children’s and family programming, is thrilled to release its second video targeting young girls.
“We couldn’t be more excited to give our fans the ‘royal treatment’ with the release of ‘Princess and the Popstar,’” said Gref Fritz, senior vice president of sales and marketing of Big Idea Entertainment. “While the title was created specifically with girls in mind, everyone will enjoy the catchy tunes and important lesson the DVD helps teach.”
Veggie Tales productions are known for their Bible-centered lessons, and this video is no different. Based on the teachings in Jeremiah 1:5, these zany, crooning vegetables use humor and fun to remind children that God has a plan for them and that everyone’s life is important.
The movie is studded with adorable characters and trademark Veggie Tales humor. Grammy-nominated and Dove award-winning artist Francesca Batistelli performs her original song “You Never Are” for the feature. Also included on the DVD is a sing-along feature for the songs “Astonishing Wigs” and “Right Where You Belong.”
Although the story is meant to appeal young girls, it will enthrall the whole family. This tale is just another success in the world of Veggie Tales.
