Cornelius (Casey) Wilkes of Draper, Utah passed away Thursday, August 5, 2011 at LDS Medical Center. He was born Oct 3, 1920 in Haarlem, Holland to Cornelius Wilkes and Hendrika Koorn Wilkes. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A viewing will be held at Larkin Sunset Memorial Gardens Mortuary Monday Evening August 8 between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Services and interment will be held the following day Tuesday August 9 at 11:00 a.m. also at Larkin's Mortuary. He was preceded in death by his wife Johanna (Hanna) Greiss Wilkes, sister Hendrica Schiltman, and grandson David Wilkes. Surviving family includes brother Nicholas Wilkes of Salt Lake City, son Hansjurgen (Hans), his wife Labretta(Lou) from Wickenberg, AZ including six grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren; Son Bernd (Brent), his wife Karen from Peach Tree City, GA including two grandchildren and three great grandchildren; Daughter Juliane (Julie), her husband David Andrews from Draper, UT including seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Casey, as all his friends referred to him immigrated with his family to Salt Lake City in 1949 for years. He was a baker for several local bakeries, left Utah and eventually purchased his own bakery 'The European Pastry Shop' in downtown San Clemente, CA. He and his wife Hanna saw their bakery become well known with many awards, recognitions and loyal clientele. Casey was dearly beloved by all those who knew him especially his family. He became your friend immediately and had the type of personality and genuineness that made a lasting impression on all those who met him.
