Janice Elizabeth Hook OpenshawFeb. 10, 1948 Sept. 11, 2011Born to Ernest Edward and Ruth Olsen Hook on February 10, 1948 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Our loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and Friend passed away peacefully at home on September 11, 2011 surrounded by her family.She married Gary Grant Openshaw in the Salt Lake City Temple on August 9, 1973. Her family and friends were the joys of her life.She enjoyed being a Mother and Grandmother, sewing, crafts, scrapbooking, reading, and serving others. She graduated from South High School and attended Weber State and LDS Business College. She served an LDS Mission in Italy and served in the Relief Society, Young Women, and Primary.She is survived by her husband, Gary, Children, Brian (Grace), Phillip (Kellie), Jeffrey (Allie), and Matthew (Rachael), 6 Grandchildren, and Sister, Evelyn (Robert) Gibson, and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her Parents, Sister Karen Shepard, and 2 Brothers James and Robert.The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of CNS Hospice and her Oncologist and staff at the Utah Cancer Specialists for their care and heartfelt love they had for Janice and her family.A funeral service will be held Saturday, September 17th, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hawthorne Ward, 808 Roosevelt Avenue (1450 South) Salt Lake City, Utah. Friends may call on Friday, September 16th, 2011, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple St., Salt Lake City, Utah and also on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the Ward prior to services.
