BOUNTIFUL — A former Northridge High School teacher pleaded guilty Friday to sexually abusing a 17-year-old student.
Jeremy Page Flygare, 33, of Sunset, pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated sexual abuse, a second-degree felony. He was originally charged with three counts of first-degree felony rape, but prosecutors agreed to reduce the charges in exchange for his guilty plea. He now faces two separate prison terms of one to 15 years for each count.
Flygare is to be sentenced Nov. 10 in Farmington's 2nd District Court.
Hired as a drama teacher in 2007, he has since been fired from the position and is undergoing treatment.
The victim's parents informed police of the inappropriate relationship between Flygare and their daughter in March, after they returned home from a vacation and found him sitting on the couch with their daughter. Police have said the girl told them the two were intimate 10 to 15 times, including once at the school.
Flygare was arrested in May and charged later that same month.
