SALT LAKE CITY — Tax season is just around the corner, and the Utah State Tax Commission is changing things up this year.
It will no longer print and mail individual booklets and forms for individual income tax returns.
One of the reasons for the move is electronic filing. Last year, 77 percent of taxpayers filed their income taxes online, according to Utah State Tax Commission spokesman Charlie Roberts. It expects that number to go up this year.
The move also saves taxpayers money. "Last year, we spent about $88,000 in printing and mailing costs," Roberts said.
The forms will also no longer be available at the post offices or libraries.
All forms and publications are available online at incometax.utah.gov.
