Betty Ann Probst"Lucky Lady Bett"Betty Ann Probst, 87, walked through the veil and into the arms of her beloved husband, Jerry, and her princess granddaughter, Heather, on October 12, 2012, after her valiant and courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. Betty was born on November 22, 1924, in Ogden, Utah to Albert Easton Forbes and Annie Elizabeth Chappelle. She attended Weber State College while awaiting the return from the war of her dashing, young Air Force bomber pilot, Gerald Graham (Jerry) Probst. They were married in Salt Lake City, UT. The military and Jerry's business ventures afforded them extraordinary opportunities to travel to all parts of the world, something that Betty relished and cherished. Betty was, more than anything else, a nurturer. She loved being a wife, a mother, a grandmother and a friend. Each day began with her hallmark, "What can I do for someone else today?" She successfully raised and is survived by four children, Susan (Mike) Stevens, Salt Lake City, UT; Kevin (Peggy) Probst, Orange Beach, AL; Kathy (Jeff) Hess, Beavercreek, OH; and Marc (Roxanne) Probst, Salt Lake City, UT. In addition, she lovingly nurtured her 18 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. Betty spent her life as a volunteer. She was honored in 2001 with the State of Utah's Governor's Points of Light Award. Betty enriched the lives of troubled youth with her support of the Utah Youth Village. She chaired their Caring Council and sat on their Board of Directors and Executive Committee.Betty's outreaching also included serving on the Utah Symphony Guild Board and the Advisory Board of the University of Utah Fine Arts Museum. The University Hospital is indebted to her for her countless years of service. An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Betty served in many callings. She loved working with her Relief Society sisters and lending her beautiful singing voice to her Olympus Hills ward choir.Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry, her parents, her brother, her sister, and her granddaughter, Heather Rebecca Probst. Heather was laid to rest just three weeks ago on what would have been her seventeenth birthday. Betty loved all of her grandchildren, but had a special relationship with Heather. Our family finds great comfort in knowing that Heather and our mother are together again and restored to their perfect selves. The family extends their special thanks to all of Betty's angel caregivers at Silverado Senior Living Center, Inspiration Hospice, and, most recently, Pita and Latu Fonua. The road Betty traveled was long and difficult but one surrounded always with love.Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 19, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, Utah. Family and friends are invited to join the family at a viewing from 12-1:45 p.m., just prior to the services. Interment follows at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, Betty would ask you to consider a donation to the Utah Youth Village, www.youthvillage.org. Online condolences at www.larkincares.com
