Richard Millet RawleSeptember 24, 1939 December 8, 2012After a long fought battle with cancer, Richard Millet Rawle, 73 who was loved by so many, passed away peacefully Saturday morning December 8, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family. Richard was born on September 24, 1939, in Springville, Utah to the late Joseph Rawle and Carrie Millet Rawle. He was the fourth of five children.Richard grew up in Springville, Utah and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was known for his quick wit and mischievous personality. He started many food fights as his friends and family would attest. Richard was a talented and natural athlete. He attended Springville high school where he excelled in numerous sports. He especially had a love for football and went on to play for Dixie College. Richard married the love of his life, Judy Kay Peterson of Provo, Utah on December 12, 1959. They had four children together: Tracy, Todd, Tosh, and Amber. They raised their children in Provo. They were later sealed as a family in the L.D.S. Provo Temple. He was a dedicated and loyal father. He was a father they could look up to and respect. His children admired and loved him as much as he loved them.Richard was an affectionate, kind, and incredibly devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. In fact, many of his friends from childhood were still his best friends. His giving and generous heart knew no limits. He helped and changed many lives because of his bigheartedness and charity. He was a man of action, not just words. Richard was successful in his career and enjoyed working with his children in their family business. His many employees adored him, as he truly cared about everyone who worked for him. Richard loved more than anything to find time to spend with his grandchildren who loved and admired him. Their favorite times with him were spent being chauffeured in his old-fashioned limo, sleepovers, breakfast at the Provo Marriott, wrestling with them and letting them use him as a punching bag. He attended all of their church and school activities and encouraged them to do their best. He rarely missed a football, golf, dance, or cheer performance. Even as his cancer progressed, he was still present at everything. Richard loved golf, fishing, anything outdoors and Jazz basketball. He had a special connection with animals while living in the foothills of Provo, and loved to feed the deer and turkey in his backyard. But above all, the most important aspect of his life was his family. His cancer was fought hard to his last day so he could live for his family. We will miss his bright smile, laughter, larger than life personality, strength, and humor. Family parties will not be the same, but we are forever changed and better because we have known and been loved by him. He is missed by his loving wife of 52 years, Judy Kay Rawle; along with their children; Tracy (Jan) Rawle of Provo, Utah. Todd (Marnie) Rawle of Provo, Utah. Tosh (Janalee) Rawle of Orem, Utah.
