Ruby Rey Lee BuhlerJan. 25, 1929 ~ Dec. 25, 2012Ruby Rey Lee passed away on Christmas day in the American Fork Hospital at the age of 83. What a wonderful day to go be with her "Freddy boy" and to see her mansion! She was born in Los Angeles, California the fourth of eleven children born to Jim and Jennie Lee: Her father, a construction foreman, was building the Metro-Goldwyn-Meyer firm studio when she was born in 1929. Her father then moved the family to Utah, where he worked on the construction of the Geneva Steel Plant and bought a 40 acre farm from Dr. Noyes in Highland.On June 2nd, 1947, she married a young soldier, Fred L. Buhler in the Salt Lake City Temple. They set up housekeeping in the old Warenski house South of the canal by the "Gray" ditch in Highland. Fred and Ruby are the parents of 15 children. Twin boys, James and John, the youngest, died the day after birth. The family has performed throughout Utah with their "Seven Singing Sisters," their dancing boys with their father as M.C. Ruby, sang and played the piano, organ, clarinet, guitar and accordion, taught music to her children at home and has made all their costumes.Highland gave her the "Good Neighbor" award in 1979 for her many acts of kindness and years of service to her neighbors in Highland City. "Highland has a lady who epitomizes the qualities that many of us are, striving for," said Wini Jensen, Highland city recorder. Mrs. Jensen called Ruby Buhler to the stage during the program that "kicked off" the Highland Fling. Ruby's unending service and compassion have become a legend in Highland. "Everyone in this town has benefitted from this sister's kindness," said one neighbor. "When I was pregnant, not a week went by that she was not at my door with something for me," said another. "She gets all her girls together and goes to people's homes who need help." In a tribute too lengthy to print, other neighbors told of her years of service to families in the community.Children still living are Fred Leroy (Maxine) Buhler, Brent (Connie) Buhler, Chris (Carol) Buhler, Sherilyn (Stephen) Naylor, Cathleen (Grant) Hegerhorst, Rosanne (Joe) Orgill, Jane Hilton Moser, Judy (James) Reimschiissel, Connie Peay Hill, Slade L (Sally) Buhler, Brad (Lori) Buhler, Ben (Karen) Buhler, Aleesa (Todd) Hale. They have 86 grandchildren, 156 great-grandchildren, and one great, great-grandchild. Brothers and Sisters still living are Farol Freeman, Irene Otterson, Jim Lee, Ralph Lee, Raymon Lee, and Sharon Lee Ailleg.Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 29, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. in the Mountain Ridge Chapel, at 5853 West 10400 North Highland, Utah. A viewing will be held Friday evening Dec. 28, 2012 from 6-8 p.m., at the Warenski Funeral Home, located at 1776 North 900 East, American Fork, and from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the Mountain Ridge Chapel prior to the funeral services.
