SALT LAKE CITY — Judge Memorial won the Utah High School Hockey state championship Monday night with an 8-5 victory over Bingham at the Salt Lake City Sports Complex.
Andrew Bergquist and Wilson Lamb each netted two goals as the Bulldogs completed the double-elimination tournament without a loss. Nicholas Brown, John Keller, Samuel Taylor and Matthew Villar also scored for Judge. Bergquist, Brown and Taylor were credited with two assists apiece, while Keller, Lamb and Villar each had one.
The Bulldogs jumped out to a 5-0 lead early in the second period and kept the Miners at a distance the rest of the way.
Cody Bohin had a hat trick and an assist for Bingham. Sterling Khou and Anthony Burt scored the Miners' other goals. Dillon Doxey contributed four assists and Derek Blackburn had one.
Judge and Bingham will represent Utah at next month's USA Hockey High School National Championships in Salt Lake City.
In the Independent final (for teams comprised of players from combined high schools), Utah County South edged Davis County by a score of 1-0.
