Orson Paul Gygi1930 ~ 2012Orson Paul Gygi was born September 15, 1930 in Bingham Canyon, Utah to Orson Henry Gygi and Zina Vance Gygi. He passed away March 21, 2012 at home. Paul served four years in the US Navy during the Korean War. He married Ilene Dial November 10, 1955 in the Salt Lake Temple.Paul was an active lifetime member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many positions, especially with the youth and Ward and Stake activities. Paul worked as a salesman with his father and three brothers in the Orson H. Gygi Co for 30 years. Then he opened GSI Restaurant Supply in Orem which he owned and operated for 12 years before retiring in 1998. He was a very successful salesman and became friends with all of his customers. He had a hobby of buying wrecked automobiles and worked with his son to restore them to sell. He was a very ambitious man and worked hard all his life until health problems restricted his activities.He is survived by his wife, Ilene, daughter Korene Bird and son Gary (Sue), eleven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, two sisters, Marjeanne (Ross) McDonald, Lola Timmins and one brother, Perry (Ann). He was preceded in death by an infant son, Michael Paul, daughter, Cheryl Winters and two brothers, Wayne and Wally. The family would like to thank all those who helped Mom so she could care for him at home these last 12 years.Funeral services will be held Monday, March 26, 11:00 a.m. at the Holladay 4th Ward, 4917 Viewmont St. (2085 East). Friends may call, Sunday evening at the Holladay-Cottonwood Memorial Mortuary, 4670 South Highland Drive from 6-8 p.m. and again at the church one hour prior to the service.
