PANGUITCH — A 4.3 magnitude earthquake Monday night around 9:30 near Panguitch was felt as far as 80 miles away in Kanab.

"For about 10 to 15 seconds we just felt shaking," said Don Sprecher of Kanab. The tremor left his cuckoo clock pendulum swinging, but caused no damage, he said.

According to the University of Utah Seismograph Station website, the quake was centered in a relatively unpopulated area of Garfield County 13 miles north of Tropic and 18 miles east of Panguitch.

Garfield County dispatch reported one person had called in regarding the temblor, but no damage has been reported.
