ST. LOUIS — A suburban St. Louis mayor says a homeless woman's death from blood clots hours after she was arrested for trespassing at a hospital was a tragedy but was not officers' fault.
Anna Brown was a 29-year-old homeless woman who died in a jail cell in September. Blood clots had formed in her leg and migrated to her lung hours after Richmond Heights police arrested her for trespassing at St. Mary's Health Center.
Richmond Heights Mayor James Beck issued a statement Monday to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch saying a city review found officers acted appropriately. The hospital has said it followed proper procedures.
Keith Link is an attorney for Brown's family and says his office continues to investigate Brown's death. He says no lawsuit has been filed but remains a possibility.
