Conrad Valoi Hatch1922 ~ 2012Our beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend returned home to his Heavenly Father April 29, 2012. He leaves behind a large posterity and a legacy of service, leadership and love. A son of Andrew Vernaldo and Elnora Kistena Olsen Hatch. Conrad was born May 26, 1922 in Koosharem, Utah. He married Elva Oldroyd February 25, 1949 in the Manti LDS Temple. They are the parents of seven children.Con attended BAC where he lettered in football and basketball, received the citizenship and male personality awards, and served as student body president. He received BS and MS degrees from BYU and was awarded a PhD in inorganic chemistry from Oregon State University. Conrad served 40 years at BACSUU in several academic positions including teacher, department chair, and academic vice president. He served three years during World War II in the Army Air Force, including duty on the island of Guam. His service carried over into numerous positions in the community and in the LDS church. His church service included bishop, stake president, regional representative, temple president, and Primary teacher. Con is survived by his children Dale (Danielle), Elaine, Lynn (Kris), Larry (Cheryl), Paul (Jenny), Anne (Stephen) Hunter and Linda (Lee) Wood. He is also survived by thirty seven grandchildren, twenty nine great grandchildren, sisters Vernelda Washburn, Leila Oldroyd, Vivian (Boyd) Mitchell,brother Glen (Jane) and sister-in-law Gay Hatch. Con was preceded in death by his eternal companion Elva, his parents, his brother Del Ray, and his granddaughter Sharlyn. The family would like to thank his devoted daughter Elaine for her loving care, and express appreciation to Brenda, Taylor, and his other health care providers. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at 1:00 pm in the Cedar City 2nd/9th/17th Ward Chapel 256 South 900 West. A viewing will be held in the Southern Utah Mortuary 190 North 300 West Friday, May 4, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and Saturday from 11:30 to 12:30 at the church.
