Karma Deane Gurney BreretonFebruary 7, 1930 ~ June 9, 2012Karma Deane Gurney Brereton, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend returned home to her Heavenly Father and Savior on June 9, 2012. She was born February 7, 1930, in Lehi, Utah, to Francis Eugene and Margary Ann Kinder Gurney and was the youngest of eleven children. She married her sweetheart, Morris Garn Brereton, on March 29, 1950, for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Her pride and joy is her family, husband, and her three children Jerry G. Brereton, Greg E. Brereton, and Cynthia Brereton Farnworth. In her youth she grew up in simpler times when you made your own fun with siblings, cousins, and friends. She had the most fun with family activities and being together. She loved camping, sports, playing games, traveling, line dancing, and was a true blue BYU fan. She loved gardening and could make anything grow, especially children. She was an expert with needle work, particularly crocheting and knitting. She was a great cook and made the best potato salad and world's greatest rolls. Later in life she loved being a snowbird, and going with her sweetheart to California. She made many friends and influenced many lives with her warmth and loving personality. In her youth she worked at Saratoga Resort, later Penney's Five and Dime in Lehi, and when her children were older JC Penney's in Orem. She retired from Utah County Election's Department where she worked for many years. She held many positions in the LDS church throughout her life including Primary President for over nine years, Relief Society President, member of the Young Women's Presidency, and avid visiting teacher. She has a testimony of the restored gospel and the plan of salvation, and was looking forward to going home to her Heavenly Father and Savior, as well as family and friends who had previously returned home. She is survived by her husband, Morris G. Brereton, children: Jerry (Gayle) Brereton, Greg (Hope) Brereton, and Cynthia Brereton Farnworth; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren with many more to come, and her sister Donna Draper of Lehi.
