Obituary: SALTAS, THOMAS

Thomas George Saltas1921 ~ 2012Born April 3, 1921 in Moreland, Idaho to George and Evanthia Pappasideris Saltas. Reared in Copperfield, Bingham Canyon, Utah. He graduated from Bingham High School in 1939 and was a member of the State High School Championship Baseball team.Tom was drafted into the Army in 1942 and served in the European Theater. Upon return from the service he resumed his employment with Kennecott Corp. and retired after 43 years of service.Tom married Mabel Pappas in 1947 and was blessed with three sons, Stan, George and James.Preceded in death by his wife, Mabel and his parents, five brothers and two sisters. Survived by sons, Stan (Karen), George (Tamela), James and sister Mary Mannos; grandchildren; Thomas, Paul, Alexie, Stephanie and Heather, and 5 great-grandchildren.At his request there will be a graveside service at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. 10600 So. Sandy, Ut. on Monday, June 25, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with a family viewing one hour prior. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to a favorite charity in his name.
