Samuel Moll1926 ~ 2012Samuel passed away on November 21, 2012 at the age of 86. Sam was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on February 7, 1926 to Fannie Zwegenberg and Eza Moll. He moved to Salt Lake City in 1934. As a student at Bryant Junior High and East High Schools, he actively pursued his interest in speech and debate. Honors included the Frank B. Stephen's Oratorical Gold Medal and SAR/Sons of the American Revolution Gold Medal. He was also a student body officer at both schools and was a member of Sigma Delta Chi and Alpha Tau Omega fraternities. Sam received his degree in Journalism at the University of Utah (1950) and graduate degrees in both Planning and Evaluation at the University of Southern California's Criminal Justice Center, sponsored by the Law Enforcement Assistance Administration (1979 and 1980). He was an Acting Sergeant/Major Public Relations Specialist for the Headquarters 5th Army Air Force (1944-1946) and received an honorable discharge. Sam was 13 when he began his professional career in Radio and Television Broadcasting at Radio Station KDYL. By the time he was 15, he was the Assistant News Director at KSL Radio. His kids remember the first time they got to see their Dad in action on the radio as the News and Program Director for that great old western station KCPX. His interest later focused on public and industrial relations, advertising, management and community and industrial planning as he pursued careers with the Salt Lake County Board of County Commissioners, Executive Director for the Utah State Chapter of the National Cystic Fibrosis Research Foundation, Nord and Associates Advertising, Salt Lake Model Cities Agency, Ecotek National Corporation and Region XII of the Law Enforcement Planning Agency (LEAA, U.S. Department of Justice). He married Sandryn Nelson in 1952; they were later divorced.Sam is survived by his daughters, Victoria, Abby, Stefi and Samantha. He was preceded in death by his brother, Allan Moll, and his sister, Jean Silverstein. Sam had a great love for animals.
