Yvonne Fife Woodlief1934 ~ 2013AMERICAN, FORK, UTOur beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away surrounded by her family on April 15, 2013. She passed from complications incurred from a stroke five weeks earlier.She was born on October 3, 1934 in Cedar City, Utah to Otto Root and Violet Bailey Fife. She had one older sibling, Dolores, who she was very close to throughout her life. Yvonne married her husband, Donald Harold Woodlief, in Los Angles, California on February 22, 1958. They were married for 55 years. She spent her childhood and youth growing up in Cedar City, Utah where she developed many lasting friendships, a love for family and her LDS faith. She graduated from Cedar City high school in 1952; attended Southern Utah State College for two years earning an Associate in Science in May 1954; and received a nursing certificate from Pasadena City College in 1957. She began her career as a registered nurse at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena where she eventually became a head nurse in the emergency room. She spent many subsequent years in a number of other nursing positions caring for those in need. She and Don had three children while living in California with subsequent moves to Northern California, Beaverton, OR, Redmond, WA. and finally retiring in American Fork, UT. She was a devoted mother and wife to her family.Yvonne was born and raised in the LDS faith with a strong testimony of the Savior Jesus Christ. She served in many church capacities throughout her life including service as a ward and stake Relief Society president, primary president and teacher to name a few. More recently she was an ordinance worker at the Seattle Washington and Mt. Timpanogos temples. Family and friends will note that she will be most remembered by her ability to render true compassionate service to others.Yvonne is survived by her husband Don and three children, Donna (Ron) Davis, Bruce (Sue) and Graydon along with 8 grandchildren (Lindsey (Brian) Walker, Landon (MaLese) Davis, Katie (Cory) McArthur, Erin Woodlief, Carly Davis, Kyle Woodlief, Alyssa Woodlief and Jared Woodlief) and five great grandchildren (Kodalyn, Kaleb and Jaydon Davis, Dylan Walker and Levi McArthur). She was preceded in death by her sister Dolores and parents Violet and Otto. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 19 at 11:00 a.m. at the American Fork 19th Ward chapel, 1305 N. 100 E., American Fork, UT with a viewing from 9 a.m to 10:30 a.m prior to the services. Friends may also meet with the family Thursday night April 18 from 7:30 p.m. 8:30 p.m. at the Anderson Mortuary, 49 E. 100 N., American Fork, UT. Graveside services will be held on 11 a.m. Saturday, April 20, 2013, at the Cedar City Cemetery, under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary. Online condolences can be sent to www.sumortuary.com.
