Barbara Valentine Wentworth Cheney"Great Nana"Barbara Cheney, 97, passed away on April 19, 2013 due to conditions related to her age and cancer. Born on Valentine's Day in Park City to Edna and Glenn Charles Wentworth, she lived most of her life in the Holladay area. As a volunteer for the Association for Special Needs Children, she helped organize the annual bazaar and other fund raising activities for the American Fork Training School. She also volunteered in the PTA where she served as President. She was an avid bridge player and her other joys in life included knitting, reading, painting and entertaining her friends at parties, as she was a gourmet cook. Many knitted hats, scarves, blankets and socks were made in her later years and several beautiful oil paintings adorn her walls. Known as "Great Nana" she leaves 37 great grandchildren and 10 grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband Arch Allen Cheney and daughter Allison Cheney, she leaves her children Karen Owen and son in law Douglas Owen, Calleen Cheney Precourt and Arch Allen Cheney. The family wishes to thank Huntsman Cancer Institute for their compassionate care and requests donations in her memory be made to Huntsman Cancer Foundation online or call 801-584-5816. A memorial in celebration of her life will be held at the East Millcreek 16th Ward, 3408 S. Celeste Way (3100 E.) on Saturday, May 4th at 10:00 a.m., followed by interment at Mt Olivet Cemetery.
