Barbara Mae Burgess Cheshire 1935 ~ 2013On April 29, 2013, after a valiant battle with ovarian cancer, our sweet mother, grandmother, sister and friend returned to her loving Heavenly Father and her eternal companion, Jim. She was born May 21, 1935 in Hyde Park, Utah to Lambert and Jessie Burgess and spent most of her childhood as a farmer's daughter in Rigby, Idaho. She married James Douglas Cheshire Jr. in the Idaho Falls Temple on October 16, 1953. Their life took them from Idaho to California, Germany and finally Utah where they built a home in Murray to raise their family. Widowed at age 46, Barbara continued alone the journey that she and Jim began together. After retiring from Murray School District she served missions in Winnipeg, Canada, The Office of the Seventy, and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. She later served as an ordinance worker in the Jordan River Temple. Her greatest joy in life was her family which includes 9 children, 46 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and counting. Barbara gave generously of her time and talents. She loved sewing, quilting, gardening and especially knitting. Barbara had a deep and abiding love for the gospel of Jesus Christ and lived her life to reflect that. Her faith and devotion never wavered. Barbara's children are: Lynden (Kim), Diane Smith (Kent), Jeanette Vance (Larry), Douglas (Jill), Christine Ballif (David), Kenneth (Beverly), Marcelle Nordfelt (Dennis), Nathan (Jodie), and Allison Day (Abraham).A viewing will be held Friday, May 3, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary (4760 S.
