PROVO — LDS missionaries leaving the Missionary Training Center are putting the Utah Transit Authority's latest transportation additions — the Salt Lake-to-Provo commuter rail line and the recently opened airport TRAX line — to the test.

"We are using (UTA's) FrontRunner to transport missionaries from the Provo MTC to the Salt Lake and Ogden missions," said Scott Trotter, spokesman for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. "And we are testing the FrontRunner/TRAX combination as an option to transport missionaries from the Provo MTC to the Salt Lake International Airport."

Both mass transit applications are currently being used by missionaries as part of normal, daily MTC operations. LDS officials will continue to monitor MTC transportation processes and make adjustments as needed.
