SALT LAKE CITY — Start your natural gas engine.
The Utah Transit Authority on Tuesday put its first compressed natural gas bus into service on route 228, which runs along Foothill Boulevard to the 4500 South TRAX Station.
It is the first of 24 CNG buses that UTA will begin using on its routes within the next month, according to a UTA press release. The bus was built by the Gillig Corporation and then fitted by UTA engineers with communication equipment, fare boxes and other necessary hardware.
